Andrew:

Hi everyone welcome to the AMA with Sol Date!

Thanks for joining us today Sid

Sid:

Hello everyone, thanks for having me here today

Andrew:

Of course, very excited to hear more about Sol Date, been seeing that you guys have been working hard and there's been lot's of developments

Sid:

Yeah, there's a lot of work to do

Andrew:

Of course

let's get right into it

1. What is your background prior to Sol Date?

Sid:

My primary background comes from Data science. Basically I work with the machine learning and algorithm stuff. My expertise is in building data driven products like the one we are currently working on i.e. SolDate. I have previously worked with many app development agencies and a matchmaking company too. I'm involved in Crypto and Blockchain space since 2017, inclined more towards the tech than Finance.

Andrew:

Wow so the perfect background for the development of Sol Date then I see

Sid:

Yeah

Andrew:

What is your role within Sol Date?

Sid:

I cofounded SolDate with one my colleague, and currently I'm working on our matchmaking algorithm.

Andrew:

Gotcha gotcha

Yes so about the project...

2. Can you give us a brief introduction to Sol Date and what you are trying to accomplish with this project?

Sid:

Matchmaking/online dating is a huge industry involving aprox 400 mn users worldwide, still highly undervalued and have many problems in basic structure like data security and privacy protection. With SolDate we are trying to build a user centric, decentralized matchmaking platform while providing total security and without privacy violations. Current platforms will never use decentralized technologies to solve these problems cause they want a centralized control over their user data, violating privacy rights and possibly sell it to third parties for profits, we are aiming to disrupt this system.

Andrew:

I see, so by implementing the matchmaking service onto blockchain can remedy these problems? Such as data security and privacy

But interesting how these companies want control over user's data like that

Sid:

Yes, using a Blockchain based data storage we can store our data on different nodes so that no one has control over it. And this distributed system makes it immune to hacks.

Andrew:

3. So the idea of “making love happen on the blockchain”, is it kind of a DeFi tinder in a sense?

Sid:

Well we prefer to call SolDate as 'Decentralized' Tinder over 'Defi' Tinder, cause ATM we are not interested in integrating DeFi with our platform. I think whenever there's money involved people feel unsafe and we don't want that. However when we launch our governance portal we will announce our staking program. Our main focus for now is building an efficient online dating platform and not a high yield promising project.

Andrew:

Ah okay I see, thank you for that clarification

4. Tell me more about your rewards and the matchmaking process.

Sid:

Unlike other platforms, SolDate is a user centric platform and will focus on incentivizing users rather than making money through them. We want to attract as much users as we can and rewards is a efficient way to do that. It will serve dual purpose of attracting new users and by distributing tokens we intend to educate non crypto people about Crypto and Blockchain. Mechanism behind is whenever a user gets matched with another user they both can claim their rewards. We are well aware of the fact that many users will try to abuse this system and we will implement necessary restriction to prevent that. Our matchmaking algorithm is pretty simple , we will group people with similar interests and then rank them considering their activity on the platform. This ranking system will be used to show the most relevant profiles.

Andrew:

I see

So would users be able to stay anonymous or would you have to "dox" yourself in a way to be able to interact on Sol Date?

Sid:

SolDate will implement an AI based live human verification system, so each user will be verified. This removes the possibility of creating fake profiles. But our app will have a 'hide profile' features, in case any user want to be unseen.

Andrew:

Oh okay thanks for that explanation

5. How do you incentivize users onto your platform besides those looking to find a potential match?

Sid:

TBH our main goal is to incentivize users who will use SolDate in search of a partner, however we will also incentivize people who support our platform by providing liquidity and when we launch our governance portal we will announce a staking program too. We will also announce a referral program to onboard new users while rewarding people with most referrals.

So we will reward all the people who are involved with SolDate, besides those who are actually looking for a partner.

Andrew:

So while we touch on this topic

6. Can you tell me about the role of your native token on Sol Date? How can it be utilized by users?

Sid:

$DATE is SolDate's utility token based on Solana, it's designed to facilitate users to use the platform. $DATE will be used to define basic platform features like swipes, invites and boosting user reach. It replaces  the traditional system of highly overvalued memberships with a never expiring token. Users will be able to use all the features of the platform by just holding $DATE in their wallets. Specially designed 'invite' function will limit stalkers from abusing other users, it will also help to keep the inflation in check as it burns one token. Other than these, $DATE will function as a governance instrument and will be used to self sustain our platform.

Andrew:

I see, will users need to hold a certain amount of $DATE to be able to access these features?

Sid:

Not at all, users will still be able to use the platform. But holding $DATE will unlock extra features like more user reach and invites.

Minimum amount to hold is 30 $DATE

Andrew:

Oh okay I see !

So one of these features that really stood out to me was the VR feature

7. What is the VR virtual dating feature? Do you have any partnerships with a company specializing in virtual reality to make this happen?

Sid:

VR dating will serve the purpose of user security and adding more realistic way to date online.  Users often feel unsafe about meeting a complete stranger whom they met online, VR solves this problem. It will also help to prevent abusers from sharing misleading information about their physical appearances.

We havent partnered with anyone yet but we are keenly interested in partnering  with a project building on Solana.

Andrew:

Yes and especially today you can never be careful enough

Sid:

Yeah, that's why we are trying to make our platform as safe as possible

Andrew:

So VR as in, those VR goggles that everyone is going crazy about recently right?

Like I think the Oculus VR that facebook developed would it kind of be like that?

Sid:

Yes, it will be like YouTube VR.

Similar to that

Andrew:

How interesting!

8. How will NFTs play a role on your platform?

Sid:

Our approach towards NFTs is different than other projects. We will encourage our users to express their feelings through NFTs instead of just trading them. By using our NFT marketplace, users can mint as well as trade NFTs without any additional fees. Art is a better way to communicate and NFTs makes a gift immortal securely stored on Blockchain forever. Its like if you want to send a gift to someone, why not just send a pixel dude NFT ;)

Andrew:

Hahaha exactly

9. Why should users use your platform instead of apps that are on the Apple app store?

Sid:

What makes us unique is our security systems and efficient use of Blockchain for self sustaining our platform. If we look at other online dating platforms, the risk of using them is too high. They are not immune to hacks and data breaches and we keep hearing about data breaches and hacks every now then. The trackers they use for showing ads are privacy violating and users feel like they are under surveillance. SolDate will be using a decentralized data storage and can assure our users that our platform is completely immune to data breaches and hacks. So if an user is concerned about his data security or privacy protection, they should choose SolDate over other platforms. SolDate's dating app will be available on both Android and Apple store.

Andrew:

Yeah and these privacy violating trackers have even been proven true

Where it could listen to what we are saying and show us ads based on what we were having conversations about

Sid:

Yeah, these trackers watch every single step you take on the internet

Andrew:

Yes and what we love here in this community is decentralization in all aspects haha

10. Where do you see this project in the next 5-10 years?

Sid:

Considering the features we are providing, all I can say for now is we are going to disrupt the monopoly of big names from this industry while making it decentralized and user centric.

Andrew:

That's awesome

a powerful statement

11. Any exciting news you would like to announce here today?

Sid:

We have almost finished developing our prototype and we will soon publish a video explaining how to use the app. Whitepaper will be released in next 2-3 day.

Andrew:

Looking forward to seeing that!

So that concludes the questions that I have for you today

Can you drop a link to your social media accounts so everyone here can go give them a follow?
