Solana Season Hackathon Registration Almost Closed

Solana has announced that the Solana Season hackathon registration, open since April 28, is about to close. Intending participants who are yet to register need to do so before May 15, 2021, when the hacking will begin.

The hackathon is a conglomeration of developers, designers, and business operators across the globe that will develop projects that leverage Solana's high speed, low fees, and scalability to advance the progress of the Solana ecosystem. There is about $1 million prizes/seed funding up for grabs in this edition of the Solana hackathon. Solana has also released updates regarding events that will precede the opening on May 15.

This edition of the hackathon will have more regional tracks than previous events. There are tracks for Africa, Eastern Europe, China, India, and Brazil. The Africa and Brazil tracks will have a $25,000 prize pool, India will have a $50,000 prize pool, while China and Eastern Europe will each have a prize pool of $125,000 and $155,000 respectively. Each of these tracks is supported by various Solana-powered projects. Winners will receive all the support they'll need to launch and maintain their projects on Solana, while the addition of these projects will continue to expand the Solana ecosystem. The team with the best project submission will be rewarded with a grand prize of $30,000.

Apart from regional tracks, there are also three category tracks - DeFi, Web3, and NFTs. The top three projects will be picked for each of these categories and would be entitled to $20,000, $10,000, and $5,000 worth of USDC-SPL respectively.

The official hackathon GitHub contains more details about developer guides, prizes, and other useful resources. There are also sponsors for individual projects and they come with additional prizes to be announced a later date.

Important Details

Technological merits and not legal viability are the basis for evaluating each project. Participants are to keep in mind that any software that they create won't form part of the hackathon or be deployed commercially. Solana's Telegram channel and Twitter pages are the best places to get fast updates regarding this competition.
